Tackling Bullying

Unfortunately, bullying is a human trait and as such, no matter what is done a school can never say with 100% accuracy that no bullying takes place. However, our pupils report regularly that they feel safe and secure and that actually, in most of their eyes, there IS no bullying. What we prefer to say is that if and when a child is subject to any bullying, that the matter is taken seriously and we act both swiftly and with tenacity until the situation is resolved.

More recently, with the ever-increasing advances in personal devices and mobile technology, cyber-bullying has grown in prominence amongst young people. Our Anti-Bullying Policy and E-safety Policy reflect this changing landscape.

We have a team of Anti-Bullying Ambassadors which meet regularly to discuss any issues and make suggestions on how to improve our provision in tackling bullying and bullying type behaviours in our school.

Our anti-bullying education is on-going and embedded into our general work in school, however we annually mark Anti-bullying Day in November with focussed activities in school that seek to raise awareness of this issue. We also link our Anti-bullying work with our work as a Rights Respecting School through the Outright Campaign.
